Circumstances took me to a site near the Humber Suspension Bridge recently.

 

I couldn’t help noticing the elegant structure, nine years in the making, over 7,000 feet long. From a distance it seemed delicate. In reality it’s very strong, being able to carry between 100,000 and 120,000 vehicles a week. Steel cables transfer the weight to two strong towers.

 

My thoughts are, how effective are we in transferring our burdens to our Saviour? He invited (and invites) sincere disciples of all ages to:

‘Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest …’ (Matthew 11v28). 

​

One simple way to communicate and share our burdens is through prayer to God. This is a powerful blessing which can help each one of us to share the burdens we all carry with us through life.
